Youth believe they are invincible.
One 13-year-old we worked with after she was trafficked by someone she met at a school basketball game put it this way: “It’s very easy for a child to be tricked by someone. They know how to play games in your head. As a teenager, you’re thinking, ‘Well, I’m smart, you know. I do all these good things. This one bad thing won’t hurt me.’”
Teens do not grasp the dangers lurking at their school basketball games, in the mall, or on social media.
What would they do differently if they really understood the tricks, traps, and lures of traffickers and other predators? Let’s teach them.
